  • an anxious heart

  • worries of the world

Your mental health matters, Friend. Regardless of what’s going on, the Lord God is your comforter in hard times and in good.

1. John 16:33

In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Bible Verse Insight:

When you experience overwhelming stress, may you experience peace of mind knowing that Jesus has overcome them for you.

2. Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You Because he trusts in You.

Isn’t it wonderful that Jesus has done this for us?

3. Isaiah 41:10

4. Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Bible Verse Insight:

When your stress levels overwhelm you, lean into this.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

5. James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

6. 1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

7. Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

8. Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters… He restores my soul and He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Bible Verse Insight:

The Scripture says that you’ll go through the valley. You won’t stay there. Hang on, Friend.

9. Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

10. Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse Insight:

So often Christians share this verse in an effort to shame the recipient out of anxiety. This is wrong. God encourages us to come to Him with every little thing.

He knows we’re susceptible to anxiety because we’re just people. And in His love, He encourages us to come to Him with anything and everything.

11. Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

14. Lamentations 3:19

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!

Bible Verse Insight:

Sadly, there were countless times I experienced a sense of shame when I “blew it.”

It took me way too long to know that He’s never disappointed in me or you. His love is never-ending.

And hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

17. Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

18. Matthew 6:26-27

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Insight for Women:

The church and culture have misled many women to believe that everything is up to us. That we must make all the right decisions. If we don’t, we’re responsible for the damage.

  • to our kids
  • our families
  • to our jobs
  • our husbands
  • parents, etc

This leads to a very unhealthy mindset that encourages women to “think about” (worry about) all things.

And yet, Jesus tells us we can let go of our worries. It’s not all on us. What relief!

19. Ephesians 6:10-12

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

20. 2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

(This was one of the very first Scriptures my girls memorized as kids.)

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.

22. Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Bible Verse Insight:

Jesus is strong and courageous for us. Be assured, you can rest in the fact that He’s strong and courageous for you.

Breathe, Sister. You are loved.

23. Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

For you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.

30. 1 John 4:4 (ESV)

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

31. Psalm 61:2

From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety.

Bible Verse Insight:

If you’re feeling afraid, know that He is your safe place.

32. Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?

33. 1 Peter 1:6-7

For a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

34. 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

35. Philippians 1:6

During that dark season of overwhelming stress and chaos, one Scripture assured me of the presence of the Lord.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Yep. That Scripture reminded me that it’s all dependent on Him. As such, it’s now one of my favorite bible verses.
